When Did The Us Or Ic Title Start Losing It Prestige In Wrestling?

Did the US title actually start to decline as WCW was going out of business?

  1. The United States Championship actually started losing prestige last year when The Miz first held the title, and he never defended. And then the title was given to Ron Killings for three weeks and then it was passed back to Miz.
The Intercontinental Championship lost it’s prestige once Rey Mysterio defeated JBL at WrestleMania 25 in 21 seconds. Rey then switched the title back-and-forth with Chris Jericho and it has never became a decent title belt since.

United States Championship started losing it in 2009. When the title became a Raw Exclusive championship.
Intercontinental Championship started losing when it became SmackDown! exclusive in 2009.
    Damn Title switched.

  3. no when wwe became pg.

  4. Mann it lost it when WWE start focusing on main eventers and diva’s only. The Miz or Kofi Kingston neither have a #1 contender.

  5. who cares about them belts its about the WWE championship everyones worried about and why it aint in john cenas hands

  6. U.S. Title should have stayed on Smackdown brand and IC should have stayed on Raw. Both titles are known as workhorse championships.. They have lost their importance since it’s been tossed around like a frisbee. It’s a shame though, because legends have held the titles.. like Ric Flar, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Ricky Steamboat, Austin, Rock, etc.

IC Title- 2003 with the judgment day battle royal. it sucked balls and went down from there
US Title- Never got a chance at prestige with the wwe.

US- After it went to RAW
    IC- After Rey beat JBL

  9. When people started to get shots straight at the WHC and WWE titles without having to work there way up.
Not that long ago you had to work your way up to challenging for an IC or US title shot, and from there you worked up to main event status and “championship” shots, it was like a prerequisite, no world title without first holding an IC or US title.
Now its the mid-card fued of choice, requiring no effort from the writers and creting matches that nobody really cares about, whilst the same handful challenge over and over again for the “big titles”
